An ex-Hollywood screenwriter now teaching an evening class in New York finds himself in a battle of wits with a devious screenwriter student. Bobby, the teacher, shows up at his student Jack Ariamehr’s doorstep to confront him – it’s the best screenplay he’s ever read. And Bobby will do anything to get a piece of this last chance at the American dream. However, Jack didn’t even write it. Possessing all the drive in the world, but devoid of talent, Jack ran an ad online, met with a a neophyte screenwriter, schmoozed him… and poisoned him. But not unlike the moral of “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre,” a film which Bobby references often to his ruthless student, the blockbuster gold that has passed into their grasp will ultimately elude them, as lives are lost and dreams are broken over a thing as simple as a screenplay.
