From NPI Entertainment Payroll, Inc. : The New York State Film Production Tax Credit program provides qualifying film and television productions a 30% credit for qualified production expenditures. All eligible productions shot in New York City may qualify for this program. In April 2013 new legislation extended the program through 2019, allocating $420 million per year.Additionally, the New York State Post Production Tax Credit provides 30% savings on qualified post-production expenses, for productions that do their post production in New York City, but are not eligible for the film production tax credit program.
