Winter Film Festival (WFF) has partnered with Simple DCP to handle all film print deliveries this year. Please read the below instructions carefully to ensure we receive your film:
Steps to Submit Your Film:
Simple DCP will offer our filmmakers a 20% discount on DCP creation services. There will be no charge for filmmakers who submit a compatible, pre-existing DCP to Simple DCP, but note that Simple DCP will no longer be archiving 3rd party DCPs. Thus, if you are supplying your own DCP to a Simple DCP sponsored festival, you’ll have to re-supply a DCP copy to each festival through their upload service specific to each film festival. Any DCP already in the Simple DCP archive will be integrated into partner festivals free of charge.
For this year’s WFF, Simple DCP will collect, create (if necessary), and ship all DCPs to the exhibition venue in an organized and efficient fashion. DCPs submitted to the film festival should be tested in a theater PRIOR TO delivery to Simple DCP.
Please see below each step to complete the process:
- Complete your email invitation (REQUIRED). You will receive an email inviting you to submit your film to WFF shortly. The email contains a link to a submission page unique to your film. On the page you will be asked to declare whether you have a DCP or need one created. If you need a DCP created, Simple DCP will follow up with an estimate for DCP creation services and instructions on how to submit your source materials.
- If you indicate that you already have a DCP, the next step is to get it to Simple DCP. Filmmakers may submit films via direct upload (preferred), supplying a download link, shipping a hard drive, or (for those who have made their film with Simple DCP previously) requesting that the film be pulled from the Simple DCP archive. You must submit your DCP no later than January 31 2025. Discounts on the Simple DCP service will no longer be available after January 31 and consolidation fees will be assessed on films submitted after February 5 2025.
- Simple DCP will check all DCPs to ensure technical compliance with digital cinema servers. Any issues identified in the packaging of your film will be flagged and emailed to you via the Simple DCP system. These QC checks are not exhaustive and do not account for issues related to aesthetics or creative intent. Please watch back your film thoroughly prior to submitting your DCP.
- Once quality checks have been completed, DCPs made with Simple DCP and all 3rd Party DCPs will be delivered directly to the festival on a compilation hard drive.
