Lila Nazemian

Lila Nazemian is the US Projects Director of CultuRunners, an independent model of cultural exchange and production; one which empowers and mobilizes international artists to tell stories and create art across physical and psychological borders.

Prior to joining CultuRunners, Lila was the Curatorial and Special Projects Associate at Leila Heller Gallery in New York City where she has organized over 15 exhibitions including solo shows by artists such as Hadieh Shafie, Reza Aramesh, Shiva Ahmadi and the group exhibition Calligraffiti which explored the relationship between Persian calligraphy and concurrent Western movements such as Abstract Expressionism, Lettrism, and Graffiti writing.

Her latest independent projects include curating Spheres of Influence, a group show at Tehran’s Mohsen Gallery in April 2016 which received critical recognition from Artforum.comArtinAmerica.comVice.com and Muftah.org among others, and a co-curated show in collaboration with Edge of Arabia and Culturunners at the Redbull House of Art, Detroit in June 2015. She regularly contributes to online and print publications. She received a B.A. in Middle Eastern History from Scripps College in California, and an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from New York University in New York.
