Goldie, a preteen ballet student, gets the chance to audition for the lead role in the Nutcracker ballet. However, being the only black girl in her ballet school comes with its own set of challenges, and her father, although he tries, isn’t always there for her. Despite supportive friends and teachers, Goldie is determined and her love of dance pushes her to work harder than anyone else.

About the Director

Louise is from Poughkeepsie, New York and is a recent graduate of the SUNY Purchase film program. Her documentary, ‘Plastics are Forever’, was featured in film festivals all over the world including the Inka Mountain film festival and the Beacon Independent Film Festival. She was awarded the Elyane R Rubinoff grant for the film, which was used to create her first narrative short, ‘Lucky 13’.
