14 year old Dora is a troubled teenager who is disconnected from her parents, who want nothing more than for her to talk to them. Her Confirmation ceremony is fast approaching and she is questioning her faith – she feels sick and her father is teasing her about her weight which causes her even more grief. Her body is changing and she is losing control. She starts distancing herself from her friends from school and starts displaying some dangerous behavior, such as smoking and drinking by herself, which makes her parents wonder if she is just a troubled teen or if there is something more serious that she is hiding.
About the Director
Just Like You was a graduation film from the Icelandic Film School for directors Lovisa Lara and Margret Buhl and cinematographer Nanna Höjgaard Grettisdottir. Lovisa wrote the screenplay and they produced the film together. Since graduation in 2014, they have started their own production company Anthems of Our Youth.
