Encouraged-Building the Future
ENCOURAGED - BUILDING THE FUTURE follows Red Bull BMX athlete Courage Adams as he comes good on a promise he made five years prior to the Lagos BMX crew, to help them build Nigeria’s first ever skatepark. Courage was born in Benin, Nigeria but immigrated to Spain as a young child. At age 12, he started riding BMX and by the age of 16 he’d turned pro, taken the BMX world by storm, and made the most of his parents bold move. Now, he returns to his roots in Nigeria, with an eclectic cast of volunteers to realize this shared dream and create a path for the Lagos BMX crew to follow in his footsteps. This film was funded by Red Bull Media House.

Jamshid, an Iranian American public school counselor, helps the children of immigrants and refugees in Seattle find belonging on their way to compete in the world’s largest Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. A fiery, funny 65-year-old Iranian immigrant and ultra-athlete, Jamshid does his best work on the playing field with his students. With a Frisbee in hand, he shows that love wins – one kid, chicken, ultra-endurance race, and friend at a time. Today there are roughly 100 million forcibly displaced people around the world – more than at any time in modern history. The plight of these asylum seekers is increasingly met with anti-immigrant policies and violence. ULTIMATE CITIZENS is a vision of a more welcoming America.
