February 17, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
Cinema Village Theater 1, 22 East 12th Street
New York,NY10003United States

You are absolutely ready and determined to make a feature film, but you have no money. While it certainly is a challenge, there is no reason you cannot make your movie on a laughably tiny budget. Speakers Mars Roberge and Steven deCastro have been making movies for years and have tons of useful advice to help you get started!

  • Making a non-budget film takes guts. How do you get moving budget-be-damned?
  • What are some surprising sources for funding?
  • How do you find locations? Can you just run-and-gun?
  • How do you handle permits/legal stuff? Do you have to involve a lawyer?
  • How do you get crew to work with you for almost no money?
  • How do you structure your film to ensure costs are kept as low as possible?
  • How do you handle the inevitable problems if you don’t have the option to throw money at it?
  • Equipment is expensive – how do you get around that?
  • Where should you absolutely spend money vs where can you cut costs?
  • How to cut costs with actors but still keep them happy – feeding them, rehearsals, contracts, costumes, makeup
  • Come get all of your questions answered! This event is FREE and open to the public but you must REGISTER IN ADVANCE.
