WANTOKS: Dance of Resilience in Melanesia
In 2018, the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, hosted the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival, celebrating the country’s fortieth anniversary of independence. On neighboring island states, the struggle for freedom continues, as West Papua resists Indonesian occupation and the residents of New Caledonia still live under French rule.

In the music video for their song about the character Icarus from Greek Mythology, this Portland, OR-based band opted to have some fun visually interpreting a more contemporary "flying story gone wrong" – that of cult hero Lawn Chair Larry. The result aims to celebrate the dreamer mentality and what is unorthodoxly possible, while also loosely suggesting "don't try this at home".
The dramatic and little known story of a group of opposition soldiers trapped behind enemy lines at the outset of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994. Eyewitness accounts of their counterattack against a much larger force, and the daring rescues they made of civilians while under fire.
