By taking the Pledge, festival signatories promise to do the following:
1. Compile statistics of gender and race of the directors of all the films submitted to selection, and when applicable, to also compile all members of the cast and crew mentioned in the registration process of the film.
For WFA-IFF 2019, we are proud to announce the following statistics:
- 51% of selected films were directed by a woman
- 17% of selected films included a Black/African-American director
- 21% of selected films included an Asian/Asian-American director
- 15% of selected films included a Latinx director
- 11% of selected films included an LGBT director
- 21% of selected films included a Middle Eastern director
2. Make public the gender and race of all the members of selection committees and programmers as well as all programming consultants.
For our 2019 Festival, 53% of our judges were women. Each submission must be watched by at least 4 judges, at least one of each gender.
40% of our judges are people of color, including:
- 11% Asian/Asian-American
- 16% Black/African-American
- 8% Latinx
- 6% Muslim/Arab/Middle-Eastern
3. Make public the gender and race of executive boards and/or boards of directors and to commit to a schedule to achieve parity in these bodies.
