Hassan Heyward was born and raised in New York City in the coolest area of Money Making Manhattan, called Washington Heights. If you are growing up in the Heights, it means you are growing up with a heavy Hispanic and Black influence. Hassan is a Field Representative in the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
High school provided stability and diversity which steered Hassan in the direction to attend Ithaca College, a top 5 Communications school. In his 3rd year, he decided to study aboard in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. That same year, he interned in Los Angeles where the desire to do film and TV production was born. As a senior, Hassan would not only be receiving a Bachelor of Science degree but news that he would be a father, shifting his focus a bit to say the least. A few years after graduating, he applied and was admitted into the prestigious NBC Page Program. There, he worked on various NBC shows and events including Saturday Night Live, Conan O’Brian and the US Open, where he was granted the opportunity to work for the Olympics in Italy.
After returning home, Hassan worked on American Gangster, which then lead to his current position in the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. The Film Office issues film permits for productions who want to make movies so, on a daily basis, he makes sure productions comply with the rules on their permit.
